Plans & pricing wizard
Selling plans, tiered intro pricing, volume discounts, build-a-box bundles, and prepaid.
The plan wizard is where you define what your customers subscribe to: the cadence, the discount, and any advanced pricing. A live storefront preview updates as you build.
Selling plans
A selling plan is a cadence (for example, every 1 month) plus a discount. Plans can support multiple frequencies; shoppers on a multi-frequency plan can change their own cadence from the portal.
The storefront plan picker
Once a selling plan is synced to Shopify, shoppers can subscribe right from the product page through the plan picker — a theme block WallaB.AI™ adds to your store. It shows a "One-time purchase" option alongside your subscribe-and-save options, with each plan's cadence and price pulled straight from Shopify (the price a shopper sees is exactly what they're charged at checkout).
The look of the picker is themed by the same widget-theme settings you preview in the plan wizard — accent color, corner style, subscribe button label, and the "Save %" badges. Set them once and they carry to the storefront.
Turning it on in your theme
The block isn't added automatically — you place it where you want it, once:
- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
- Open a product template.
- Click Add block in the product section, choose Apps, and add Subscription plan picker — position it near your Add to cart button.
- Adjust the block's theme settings in the sidebar to match your brand, then Save.
Note
The picker appears only on products that have a synced selling plan. On a product without one, it shows a short "not available yet" message instead of an empty widget — so nothing looks broken while you finish setting plans up.
Hide your theme's built-in picker
Once a product has a selling plan, most Online Store 2.0 themes render their own native subscribe/purchase-options control on the product page. If you also add the WallaB.AI™ picker, shoppers see two subscribe controls. Keep one — ours, which carries your widget-theme styling and the "Save %" badges — and hide the theme's.
The exact control varies by theme, so the general rule is: in the theme editor, open the product template and look inside the section that holds the "Add to cart" area (in Dawn and Dawn-based themes this is the Buy buttons block) for a Show purchase options / subscription toggle, then turn it off. Some themes instead expose a separate Purchase options or Subscriptions block that you remove from the section. Then Save and check the live product page in a private window — you should see exactly one picker.
Note
If your theme has no such setting and always shows its native picker, place the WallaB.AI™ block on the page and hide the theme's control with your theme's own visibility settings, or ask us at support@wallab.ai — we'll help you match it to your specific theme.
Tiered intro pricing
Cycle-indexed tiers change the discount as a subscription ages — for example, a deeper discount for the first three cycles, then the standard rate from cycle four onward. Tiered pricing is recomputed at charge time each cycle.
Volume pricing (quantity tiers)
Quantity tiers discount by how much a customer orders per cycle, and they compose with the plan's regular discount. When a subscription's total quantity reaches a tier's minimum, the tier applies one of:
- a percentage off,
- a fixed amount off, or
- a fixed price per unit (which replaces the per-cycle amount entirely — useful for flat bundle pricing).
Presets are built in for the common cases: "Buy more, save more" percentage ladders, and a BOGO-style "second unit 50% off at quantity 2".
Discounts compose in a fixed order at charge time: the cycle-tier or plan discount first, then the quantity tier, then any win-back discount (multiplied on the result).
Bundles (build-a-box)
Bundles let you sell a curated box whose contents shoppers can customize. You define:
- Slots — each with a label, a minimum and maximum number of items, and a pool of eligible products ("pick 2 from our dark roasts").
- Shopper customization — a per-bundle switch. On, shoppers get a "Customize your box" editor in the portal; off (for mystery boxes), the contents stay merchant-controlled.
Slot constraints are enforced both in the portal UI and again on the server.
Note
Today, a bundle subscription is set up by you (or your team — for example for phone or VIP orders) and customized by the shopper from then on. Letting shoppers pick their box contents at storefront signup/checkout is coming with the Shopify checkout integration; it is not available yet.
Prepaid plans
A prepaid subscription is paid for in batches of cycles up front:
- Creating a prepaid subscription never charges automatically — the balance starts at zero and the first charge happens when a batch is purchased.
- Buying another batch extends the remaining balance (it never resets it), and the amount is always computed server-side from current pricing.
- Each due delivery is fulfilled from the balance with no card charge; the shopper sees "X of Y deliveries remaining" instead of a next-billing date.
- When the balance runs out the subscription pauses automatically — there is no silent auto-recharge. The shopper (or you) buys more cycles to resume.
- Cancelling with unused cycles requires an explicit confirmation that the remaining deliveries are forfeited — nobody loses paid cycles to a mis-tap.
Your WallaB.AI billing plan
Your own WallaB.AI subscription is separate from your customers' plans — see Billing plans & support.
